3K WOMEN TAKE CENTER STAGE IN GO NEGOSYO SUMMIT

BY KRISTINA MARALIT

AROUND 3,000 female-led micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSME) take center stage today at the Go Negosyo Women’s Summit 2023 in Parañaque City.

According to Go Negosyo founder Jose Maria “Joey” Concepcion 3rd, the day-long event at the Ayala Malls By The Bay is co-presented by the United States Embassy in Manila.

“The US government has been very supportive in helping our MSMEs,” the former presidential adviser for entrepreneurship said in a televised briefing. “Close to 300 women mentors helping the MSMEs attended our event.”

“Why are we doing this? We can see that we can uplift the businesses of the MSMEs, and since most of our micro-entrepreneurs are women, then we need to help them. If they do better in their business, then our growth rates will be much higher,” he added.

He further noted that MSMEs generated around 84 percent of the country’s jobs.

“Their contribution to GDP (gross domestic product) is almost 30 percent. So, this is why we are putting a lot of focus on the micro and small entrepreneurs,” stated the Private Sector Advisory Council’s (PSAC) lead for jobs.

First Lady Marie Louise “Liza” Araneta-Marcos is the event’s guest of honor at the summit.

She will be joined by Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) Secretary Alfredo Pascual, Parañaque City Mayor Eric Olivarez, and United States Ambassador to the Philippines MaryKay Carlson.

Noted personalities will also grace the event, among them former Miss Universe winner and actress Gloria Diaz, Angkas founder Angeline Tham, and businesswoman and social media influencer Small Laude.
