Marcos defends first lady from detractors

KRISTINA MARALIT

PRESIDENT Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. finally defended first lady Marie Louise “Liza” Araneta-Marcos from her detractors.

In an interview aired Monday night, the Chief Executive said that the first lady had no role whatsoever in policymaking. He admitted that he would sometimes consult her regarding “legal matters.”

“I’m not a lawyer, so I need an expert opinion,” he said.

“The first lady helps me in terms of the organization because she’s actually very, very good at that — organize which office, how the workflow goes, where the documents go through. She’s a well trained lawyer; she’s very good at that. That’s the extent of it; we don’t talk policy together,” Marcos added.

The first lady has recently been the subject of talks for her supposed influence peddling on key government appointments such as in the Armed Forces of the Philippines.

She denied this and said that she was “sick and tired” of her name being used for whatever intent.
