Marina builds extension office in Malalag

THE local government of Malalag has donated a parcel of land to the Maritime Industry Authority (Marina) to create an extension office and provide services to residents, particularly seafarers.

Mayor Peter Paul Valentin and Marina Regional Office 11 Director Felisa Orongan held the historical signing of the deed of donation on Jan. 20, 2023 at the Office of the Municipal Mayor.

The 500-square-meter lot is located at Barangay Baybay near the fish landing of Malalag in Davao del Sur.

The area will also have a substation for the Philippine Coast Guard, PNP Maritime Group and Provincial Fisheries Enforcement Team that will cover the provinces of Davao del Sur and Davao Occidental as far as Sarangani Island and Balut Island, which are under the Municipality of Sarangani, Province of Davao Occidental.

The signing was witnessed by engineer Jose Bernardo Monarca, supervisor in-charge of the Malalag Extension Office and a representative from the Office of the Mayor.
