3 bus firms allowed to operate in Cagayan

LEANDER C. DOMINGO

The Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) in Region 2 has approved the operation of three bus companies in Cagayan province.

According to the LTFRB-Region 2, the operators of Florida, Victory and 5-Star bus companies have been given a QR code and an App to monitor the bus trips.

Edward Cabase, LTFRB-Region 2 director, said each trip is a point-to-point dispatch, and that picking up and dropping off passengers along the route is strictly prohibited.

“We have designated stopover points and terminals for these passenger buses. There are no increases in fare and will remain at P1.75 per kilometer,” Cabase said.

He said all passengers who are fully vaccinated need only to present their Covid-19 vaccination card, while those not fully vaccinated are required to present their antigen result which is valid only for 72 hours.

The LTFRB has only allowed 75 percent capacity of each bus, which may gradually increase depending on the progress of the ongoing vaccination program against Covid-19 in the country, Cabase added.

He also said bus operators found violating protocols and guidelines of the Inter-Agency Task Force for the Management of Emerging Infectious Diseases will be penalized.
