MRT Negros lands 5th in PNVFCL

MRT Negros finished fifth in the Philippine National Volleyball Federation Champions League (PNVFCL) men’s tournament after defeating the Sabong International Spikers, 20-25, 25-14, 20-25, 25-21, 15-5, in the classification match at the Aquamarine Sports Complex in Lipa City, Batangas on Friday.

Christian Marcelino scored 16 points on 15 attacks to lead MRT Negros in the match that lasted for two hours and four minutes. Leo Ordiales and Matthew Salarzon punched in 15 points apiece, as Jhun Kahulugan and Gadpray Aresgado added 11 and 10 points, respectively.

After a see-saw battle in the first four sets, MRT Negros unleashed all its might in the deciding fifth frame for a 15-5 win capped by an Ordiales running attack.

Jelord Talisayan paced Sabong International with 16 points on 14 attacks, as Charles Absin chipped in 13 and Mark Rocamora added 11 points.

Sabong International settled for sixth place in this seven-team tournament.
