Photo exhibit features PH-China friendship

A CELEBRATION of friendship between China and Philippines through the China-Philippines Cooperation Achievements Photo Exhibit was held at the Angeles University Foundation (AUF) Sports and Cultural Center, AUF main campus in Angeles City, Pampanga on Friday.

The exhibit, dubbed as “Friendship Bridge Span Millenia, China-Philippines Friendship Remains Ever Stronger,” was organized by the Chinese Embassy in Manila and the Federation of Fil-Chinese Association of The Philippines Foundation Inc. It is a selection of pictures reflecting the most significant moments of high-level exchanges, trade and economic cooperation, and anti-pandemic cooperation between both countries, which vibrantly shows the millennium friendship between China and the Philippines as good neighbors and trusted partners.

The event was graced by Ambassador Huang Xilian of the Embassy of the People’s Republic of China in the Republic of the Philippines, Minister Counselor Yang Guoliang, Counselor Xie Yonghui, Counselor Xiong Sheng, Secretary Jacinto Paras, Presidential Adviser for Political Affairs; former congressman Harry Angping, Joseph Emmanuel Angeles and AUF President Yang Huahong of the Federation of Fil-Chinese Association of The Philippines Foundation.

Earlier, Ambassador Xilian with Minister Counselors Guo Liang, Yonghui and Director Wu Chenqi visited the 11-hectare assembly plant of Foton Motor Philippines Inc., Asia’s largest commercial vehicle manufacturer located at Clark Freeport.

The event highlighted the friendly cooperation between China and the Philippines and accomplishments achieved in pursuit of common development and progress. This includes the Binondo-Intramuros Bridge, the Sino-Philippine Agricultural Technology Center in Nueva Ecija and the Philippines’ GNPK 4135-MW coal fired power plant in Mindanao.

The memorable occasion was also attended by embassy personnel, employees of Chinese enterprises in the Philippines, members of the Chinese community, teachers and students of the Confucius Institute at Angeles University, local Chinese teachers and students from the Chinese language program of the Philippine Ministry of Education.

Aside from the photo exhibit, audiences enjoyed watching the product and service exhibition of eight Chinese enterprises in the Philippines.

The VIPs were welcomed with a performance song by the University Art Troupe.

In his message, Ambassador Huang said that in the future, China is ready to continue to work with the Philippine side to adhere to good neighborliness and friendship, deepen practical cooperation and further advance the comprehensive strategic cooperative relationship between the two countries, as to bring more benefits to the two peoples.

President Rodrigo Duterte’s message was delivered by Paras.

Part of the event was the ceremonial donations of products to universities by Chinese enterprises in the Philippines where Guo Zhi, COO of Huawei Philippines, and Zhang Chaohao, CMO of ZTE Philippines donated two television sets and 10 mobile phones to the AUF witnessed by Huang, Guoliang, Rep. Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo and Vice Gov. Lilia Pineda.

The VIPs had the chance to watch the product and service exhibition of Chinese-funded enterprises in the Philippines.

After the photo and product service exhibition, the guests moved to the next activity, a ribbon-cutting ceremony for the refurbishment and completion of the Confucius Institute at the University of Angeles which is 300 meters away from AUF.

Again, Huang and the rest VIPs led the ribbon-cutting ceremony for the refurbishment and inauguration of the Confucius Institute (CI) at AUF held in front of the Confucius statue in Little Garden.

The CI-AUF is a non-profit educational organization devoted to satisfying the needs and demands of the world to learn the Chinese language and to enhance understanding of the Chinese arts and culture.

They also visited the library and office of the CI before they proceeded to the “Arroyo Memorial Hall” at AUF for photo opportunities.
