Cavite tornado displaces 84 families

GENERAL TRIAS, Cavite: There were 84 families or about 357 individuals hit by a tornado in Sitio Capriohan in Barangay Santiago here on Thursday, May 19.

Village chairman Rolando Pagkaliwangan said a tornado swept through the area at around 2:30 p.m. while rain was pouring.

“Dito sa Barangay Hall, nakikita nyo na nagliliparan ang mga yero ng mga kabahayan, mabuti nalang po eh, walang tao na nasaktan sa insidente (From where I was here at the village office, you will see, pieces of galvanized iron used for roofs flew by. It was a good thing that no one was hurt in the tornado incident),” Pagkaliwangan said in an interview with The Manila Times.

The local government here immediately took action and assistance was immediately given to the affected families with the help of the City Social Welfare and Development.

Mayor Antonio Ferrer, Congressman Luis Ferrer 4th and Vice Mayor-elect Jonas Labuguen brought relief goods to the affected families currently staying at a public school while repairs to their homes are being undertaken.
