PBA NO. 1 PICK AGREES TO SIGN 3-YEAR, MAX DEAL

REY JOBLE

SOUTHEAST Asian Games campaigner Brandon Ganuelas-Rosser is set to sign a deal with Blackwater next week. He has already agreed in principle to a threeyear, maximum deal.

Blackwater team manager Johnson Martines confirmed this to The Manila Times via Messenger on Friday.

“Next week, we’re going to sign up our rookie picks, but we already have an agreement with Brandon Ganuelas-Rosser for a three-year deal,” Martines wrote.

Ganuelas-Rosser was selected top overall by the Bossing in last Sunday’s PBA Rookie Draft.

He and the rest of the Limitless Appmasters represented the Philippine 3x3 squad which competed in the ongoing Hanoi Southeast Asian Games, and the team finished with a bronze medal.

The Limitless Appmasters earned the right to represent the country’s 3x3 squad after ruling the inaugural staging of the PBA’s 3x3 tournament late last year.

After spending a few months playing in the 3x3 tournament, the younger Ganuelas-Rosser will now have a chance to compete against his brother, Matt, who is playing for TNT, in the regular five-on-five competition of the PBA, which will start its new season on June 5.

Last year, the younger GanuelasRosser applied for the PBA Rookie Draft, but was declared ineligible after failing to submit the lacking documents to the league’s Commissioner Office, but with a more relaxed rule this time, he now has a chance to fulfill his dream of playing in the big league.

Aside from Ganuelas-Rosser, Blackwater also selected two players in the first round — guard Kurt Lojera and forward Mark Dyke.

Lojera is a combo guard who played for La Salle and was selected ninth overall by the Bossing while Dyke is a 6-foot-3 forward who also saw action for the Green Archers a few years ago.

Dyke used to play for the Manila Stars in the MPBL three years ago where Ariel Vanguardia also serves as a coaching consultant to head coach Tino Pinat.

Blackwater also selected 6-foot-4 forward Ato Ular as the No.1 pick in the second round. He played for Letran in the NCAA, but also saw action for MPBL team Marikina.

The Bossing also drafted another big man in Daryl Pascual, a 6-foot-7 player of Elvis Tolentino with the Marikina Shoemasters, in the third round, forward Ace Laxamana in the fourth round and Arthur Navasero in the fifth round.
