SANTIAGO CITY, Isabela: Showing professionalism and support, 53-yearold Filipino-American Ron Falconi, incumbent Brunswick mayor and Republican candidate, conceded to his opponent, Melanie Murphy-Miller, after losing the 67th Ohio House District primary elections on Wednesday, August 3.

Falconi on Thursday said he will continue his term as mayor of Brunswick even though he was “disappointed” with the outcome but “would live to fight another day.”

Born to Filipino parents who had migrated to the United States, he also said he contacted Murphy-Miller and congratulated her on her impressive win. “I also told her that she has my support and endorsement to be the next State Representative for the 67th Ohio House District.”

Falconi has been the mayor of Brunswick since 2013.

He was a Brunswick council member from 2008 to 2013.

The Filipino-American mayor finished his Bachelor of Arts degree in political science at the John Carroll University and a Juris Doctor degree at the University of Akron School of Law.

In his Facebook post, Falconi thanked his family, friends, volunteers and supporters for their help during his primary election bid.

“Thank you from the bottom of my heart for all of your help over the past year. Although it did not go the way that we planned, I was so humbled by your efforts. Thank you so much for standing by my side as we fought this battle together. I appreciated your joining me on this journey,” he said.
