ORIENTAL MINDORO HAS 944 DENGUE CASES, 4 DEATHS

CALAPAN CITY, Oriental Mindoro: The province neared the 1000 mark of dengue cases — the highest recorded since January this year. Dr. Cielo Ante, acting provincial health officer, in a message to The Manila Times, said that as of August 8, the province logged 944 dengue cases topped by Calapan City with 272, followed by the town of Naujan with 219. Two died in the town of Gloria and one death each in the towns of Pinamalayan and Victoria. According to the health office, they are expecting a rise in the number of infections this year it usually peaks every three years. She also said that the average death yearly in the past few years is from four to six. Ante added that since January, they have adopted measures to control the surge of infections. They have partnered with the Department of the Interior and Local Government in conducting the 4S (Search and Destroy, Secure Self-Protection, Seek Early Consultation, Support Indoor, and Outdoor Spraying) and Aksyon Barangay Kontra Dengue and the setting-up of a fast lane at public hospitals in the province. “We are reminding the public to clean their surroundings regularly and to follow protocols for Covid-19 while doing so,” Ante said in a text message. Infections in other have Pinamalayan with 81; Gloria, 75; Bongabong, 42; Roxas, 41; Victoria, 40; Baco, 34; San Teodoro, 33; Socorro and Mansalay with both 26 cases; Pola, 18; Bulalacao, 15; Bansud, 13; and nine from Puerto Galera.
