Eastern earmarks P1B in capital expenditures

EASTERN Communications Philippines Inc. on Friday said it would be spending P1 billion this year as part of an ongoing national expansion and rollout of fiber network services.

The 2023 capital expenditures will augment expansion efforts into emerging sites and business hubs while the firm also continues network infrastructure improvements and restoration across the country.

Eastern reported a revenue increase of 7 percent in 2022 compared to its 2021 performance, said to have been driven by its current offerings of connectivity and internet products, and increasing demand for reliable information and communications technology solutions.

It said that its customer satisfaction had increased to 90.92 percent in 2022.

“We are proud of our high touch approach, and this has become our competitive advantage. Our 2022 customer satisfaction score shows our dedication to continuously delight our customers. We will bring this commitment with us as we expand to more areas in the country,” said Vince Tempongko, co-coordinator for Eastern.

Eastern said it will continue its Via Eastern expansion campaign and extend its coverage across Visayas and Mindanao.

Services through the Philippine

Domestic Submarine Cable Network (PDSCN), which recently landed in Zamboanga, will be made available in other sites.

The $150-million PDSCN, kickstarted in July 2022 at Subic Bay by Eastern Communications and partners Globe Telecom Inc., and InfiniVAN Inc., is set to be completed by April 2023.

Eastern said it would soon hold a Via Eastern launch in Zamboanga, one of its major expansion areas, to officially offer businessgrade connectivity and digital solutions to customers in the area.

“Because of the expansion and the increase in the number, and the quality of our services, there has to be a shift in our competency to provide the quality service that our customers need and expect so Eastern Communications and its people will continue to evolve,” said Aileen Regio, Eastern cocoordinator.

“Our nationwide expansion will be completed by the end of the year. With this, more Filipinos will be enabled by the high tech and high touch services of Eastern Communications,” she added.

Eastern Communications said it would also help businesses in Metro Manila and regional areas evolve even further through live business seminars, thought leadership sessions on digitalization and new tech solutions products.
