Lady Bulldogs aim to snap 2-game skid

DEFENDING champion National University (NU) looks to return to its winning ways when it battles University of the Philippines (UP) in the UAAP Season 85 women’s volleyball tournament today, April 1, at the Smart Araneta Coliseum in Quezon City.

The Lady Bulldogs, coming from back-to-back losses, face the Fighting Maroons at 12 p.m.

Unlike its dominant run last year when it completed Season 84 without a setback, NU has been vulnerable this season and lost two in a row against last season’s other finalist La Salle.

NU dropped to 5-3 after bowing to La Salle 24-26, 24-26, 16-25 last Saturday.

“We really need to work on it (our errors). It really makes a big difference, especially if the game is close and we’re making mistakes. We can’t really win if we keep on making those errors,” said NU head coach Karl Dimaculangan whose team committed 26 errors in the game.

“We need to fix our mentality in the end game, we can’t repeat our mental lapses. We remain positive, though. We know that whatever happens, we will bounce back. We have to learn so we can adjust accordingly.”

On the other hand, the Fighting Maroons are out to stop its five-game slide and pump life to its flickering chances to make the Final Four.

UP is coming off a 22-25, 19-25, 20-25 defeat to Far Eastern University last Saturday.

In the other women’s game of the day, Adamson and Ateneo clash at 2 p.m.

In the men’s division, NU (8-0) and UP (0-8) collide in the first game at 10 a.m. while Adamson (1-7) and Ateneo (4-4) face off at 4 p.m.
