Isla Lipana & Co./PwC Philippines releases its first Sustainability Report

ISLA Lipana & Co./PwC Philippines published its first Sustainability Report, covering fiscal year 2022. It highlights the firm’s practices in promoting sustainable business operations and addressing environmental, social and governance (ESG) issues.

The report outlines the firm’s progress toward its sustainability goals — reducing carbon emissions, promoting inclusion and diversity in the workplace, supporting communities and social enterprises, and upholding good governance.

Roderick Danao, PwC Philippines chairman and senior partner, states: “With our Sustainability Report, we would like to emphasize that sustainability isn’t merely about ticking a box, but about making a difference for our network, clients, government and societies. We do this by coming together to solve some of our biggest, most complex challenges and help clients address specific and immediate issues relating to sustainability.”

The Sustainability Report was internally launched in PwC’s Asia Pacific Americas (APA) East Cluster Corporate Sustainability Meeting. PwC Philippines is especially proud as PwC’s sustainability community selected Manila as the meeting host. Delegates from Japan, Malaysia, India, New Zealand, China and PwC Global attended the hybrid meeting in Makati City, while over 42 participants from Thailand, Singapore, Korea, Australia, the Asia Pacific Americas, Europe, Middle East and Africa regions joined via Zoom.

Atty. Alexander Cabrera, PwC Philippines chairman emeritus and sustainability leader, shares: “The meeting was our opportunity to show the bigger sustainability community in PwC not only the ESG situation in our country, but also the novel initiatives of their Filipino counterparts. For example, the delegates learned from the plastic waste management ideas and actions that we have with our partners SM Supermalls and the Plastic Credit Exchange.”

With its maiden sustainability report, PwC Philippines hopes to provide some inspiration to other companies in collectively building a sustainable future for today’s youth — the workforce of the future.
