Village watchman shot dead in Tanauan City

TANAUAN CITY, Batangas: A village watchman was shot dead by an unidentified assailant while in a drinking session on Saturday, November 18, at Purok 4 in Barangay Pagaspas this city.

The Tanauan City police identified the casualty as Alvin Paquiz, 50, a tricycle driver and a barangay police member. A computer technician identified as Alberto Muhallin, 52, was wounded after he was hit by a stray bullet.

The report said that at 9:06 p.m., the victims were having a drinking spree at the house of Wilson Masajo when the suspect arrived and shot Paquiz on the head.

Paquiz died on the spot. Muhallin, who was seated beside Paquiz, was hit when the bullet passed through.

The suspect, who was wearing a helmet, camouflage jacket, and shorts, boarded a black Honda Supremo motorcycle and fled.

Muhalin was rushed to Health Way Daniel Mercado Medical Center for medical treatment.

Police recovered at the crime scene a fired cartridge case of caliber .45 pistol.
