Lady Bulldogs eye 3rd straight win

DEFENDING champion National University (NU) looks to extend its winning streak to three when it battles Far Eastern University (FEU) today, March 18, in the UAAP Season 85 women’s volleyball tournament at the FilOil EcoOil Center in San Juan.

After a five-set setback to University of Santo Tomas (UST) on March 4 that ended NU’s 20-game winning run, the Lady Bulldogs restored order and won back to back games against University of the Philippines and University of the East (UE) to improve its win-loss record to 4-1.

NU head coach Karl Dimaculangan will continue to lean on Alyssa Solomon, Jen Nierva and reigning Most Valuable Player Bella Belen when they battle the dangerous Lady Tamaraws.

“We’re just taking it one game at a time. I told them that before we think of La Salle, we need to perform well first against FEU so we’d prepare well for FEU before we face a tougher opponent at the end of the first round,” said NU head coach Karl Dimaculangan.

“We’d look at what are the things we can improve from this game (against UE) and what are the things we have to sharpen for our game against FEU,” added Belen.

Meanwhile, the Lady Tamaraws seek some stability and look to get a winning run going in what has been an up-and-down season so far for them.

Led by Chen Tagaod who fired 23 points, FEU hurdled past UE on March 15 to rise to 3-2.

In the other women’s game, winless UE and UST collide at 11 a.m.
