ANDREA TORRES PICKS UP NEW SKILLS FOR ‘PASIONAL’

KAPUSO actress Andrea Torres bags ANOTHERCAREERMILESTONEWITHHERfiRSTinternational movie. Titled “Pasional,” the film is co-produced by Argentina's Malevo Films and Philippines' GMA Network.

“Originally, the film is set in South America but when the opportunity came to shoot here, we started to think of making the story possible in the Philippines. Of course, we need a beautiful woman from the Philippines and then we had the chance to cast Andrea who is perfect for this film,” the film’s director Francisco D’ Intino said in a media conference.

“This is a first in history for an international co-production between Argentina and the Philippines. It’s a very special opportunity. We got to meet wonderful talent — we’re talking about actors and the technical personnel so we foresee very interesting future in collaboration between the two countries,” Assistant Director Nicolas Cacciavillani added.

The 31-year-old had to experience many firsts for her role as a Filipina tango dancer. Apart from taking dance lessons, Torres also had to learn speak in Spanish.

“Tinuruan din nila akong mag Spanish. Na-enjoy ko din po kasi iba yung tono niya sa pananalita natin. In a way, kapag ginagawa ko siya, feeling ko para akong kumakanta,” she added.

Apart from these new skills, Torres was also able to hone her acting chops the Argentine way.

“Tayo kasi parang laging heavy drama, malalaking eksena, malaking movements, babad yung kilos. Sa kanila naman, minimal dapat lagi yung reaction mo. Mas gusto nila yung pigil, yung snappy ka kumilos. Also, mas gusto nila

yung hindi ka laging umiiyak,” recalled Torres.

“Pasional” is a love story wherein Torres will be paired with Argentine actor Marcelo Melingo.

“’It is a romantic film with a universal story and has an emotional component. We are trying to show the different locations to portray a special impact in the film. Both Argentina and the Philippines are trying to showcase very interesting and beautiful places in this country,” producer Luciano Croatto said.

Among the places the Argentine and Filipino crews visited for filming are Coron, Caramoan and Banaue.

Finally, Torres expressed how happy she is to finally be able to show Filipino hospitality in return to the Argentine hospitality she experienced during her stay in the Latin country last year.

“Very thankful kasi ako sa kanila dahil they made sure na komportable ako doon, na mae-enjoy ko yung lugar nila. Talagang planned nila lahat, ang gaganda ng mga naging memories ko from Argentina. Kaya nung sila naman ang pumunta dito, may pressure for me kasi syempre gusto ko din makita yung ganda ng country natin and happy naman ako kasi tuwang tuwa sila sa mga beach natin,” she ended.

The “Pasional” team is targeting its release on November.
